In the wake of the destructive storms that moved across several counties located in Food Bank for the Heartland’s service area on July 31, 2024, Food Bank for the Heartland is working closely with state health departments and our retail and pantry partners to ensure neighbors affected by the storm have the nutritious food they need to thrive.
If you or someone you know needs assistance, we’ve provided a list of local resources below.
Additionally, anyone who has lost food purchased with SNAP due to a power outage may be eligible for replacement SNAP benefits.
SNAP Program participants who had a power outage (lasting more than four hours for refrigerated food or 24 hours for frozen food) are eligible. The loss must be reported within ten days to your state’s health department and will require a physical signature.

Nebraska residents: please contact AccessNebraska at 402-595-1258, or 1-800-383-4278. This replacement setup also applies to Nebraskans receiving Summer EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer).
Iowa residents are encouraged to call their local HHS office to submit a request.
