Food Bank for the Heartland collects, inspects, sorts and repacks the food for distribution to over 285 nonprofit agencies across Nebraska and western Iowa.
To meet the increasing demand, we purchase food to supplement donations. In 2013, we spent $587,000 to buy high-demand food items. The Food Bank distributed 12.6 million pounds of food during the 2013 fiscal year - a 3.7 million pound increase from the previous year.
